FAQ
Can AlterLock be installed on any bicycle?
AlterLock fits neatly on bottle cage bosses of most sports bikes and can be mounted underneath a bottle cage.
Is AlterLock easily removed from a bike?
When in lock mode, removing motion will be detected on the device and will trigger the alarm to notify on your phone. You will receive a notification and be aware of any attempts to remove the device.
What is the difference between a Bluetooth tracker and AlterLock?
Bluetooth-based trackers are primarily intended to prevent the loss of portable items. They transmit location information when a smartphone is in the vicinity, but are not suitable for tracking moving bicycles.
AlterLock has a stand-alone communication function and supports GPS / Wi-Fi positioning, allowing you to track wherever you go.
Can AlterLock constantly receive GPS data to track?
Since this product is specialized for theft prevention, it cannot be used as a GPS tracker that displays location information at all times. By activating GPS after detecting movement in lock mode, the product can be used for long-term tracking with significantly lower power consumption.
Can the alarm sound and motion detection sensitivity be adjusted?
The duration of the alarm and the motion detection sensitivity can be adjusted using the AlterLock App.

Instead of an insurance, I thought this would be a better and cheaper way to look after my bike. It works nicely; my bike hasn’t been stolen yet 😉
Still relatively new, so some improvement points are:
* when testing a movement with the alarm engaged, the alarm sometimes takes a minute before it is received on my mobile.
* When locking the bike during a pause in my ride, I can press a physical button on the device to lock/unlock the alarm, which I like a lot. I prefer not to use my phone all the time, since it is a hassle and takes time, and hence will stop me from using it. Unfortunately, currently I need to have the app running on my iphone for the lock action with the physical button to take effect, which means I need to use my phone.
I hope/assume these can be improved when the system is developed even more. So far so good!

Bought in July blue LED light didn’t come on then divide stopped working altogether
土佐 –
How easy it is to set it up, and arm the lock when you arrive somewhere (press one button and your bike is secure). App functionality is good and the alarm is LOUD – would definitely cause a scene if someone tried to walk off with your bike!!!
Mark R –
Good peace or mind to have something like this on the bike. Its one of thoughs items you wish you dont have to use. but great to have when you do truely need it.
Alarm is a great feature for when its parked near by. I live in an apartment building and can hear it in the bike lock up through the wall, where my last bike was stolen from. I have lucky not had to test the real world GPS tracking. but works well when testing.
Thomas –
Yes!! I think it is a great addition to bikeprotection. Especially in Amsterdam bicycle theft is a big problem. And a bike alarm ensures that a thief leaves your bicycle. (campaign reviewer)
Lars S –
The device is very complete and works very well in combination with the app.
Ed –
I was in two minds about the Alterlock – on the one hand, having GPS tracking, and an alarm & being notified in case of someone interfering with my bike is appealing, but is it worth the subscription cost, will it be robust enough to be effective, and will it deter or attract thieves?
With regards to the product itself, it’s made nicely, it’s well packaged, and the phone software was straightforward. I found the installation a breeze – and even in my XS frame, it sits snugly under my bottle cage, and doesn’t draw too much attention to itself. If you want to use it as an active deterrent I like the stickers that come with it.
When it came to using it, I found it very reassuring at a cafe stop, when I don’t use a very robust lock, knowing that I’d know if anything happened to my bike, and being able to check where it is.
With regards to cost, the device itself isn’t cheap, but the subscription is less than equivalent tracking subscriptions e.g. for a dog gps tracker. Will it stop a determined thief? No, but ultimately, if you ever need to lock your bike somewhere outdoors – particularly if you’re close enough to respond if the alarm starts going off, I’d recommend it. For cafe stops, it’s excellent.
Kirsty –
Yeah, I think the product is good. The sound of the alarm is a good deterrent.
Vernon –
The peace of mind it gives you is amazing. When you’re stopping for a coffee or a pint on a ride, you can relax knowing that the lock will deter and track should anyone try to take your bike.

AfterLock is one of a range of latest generation anti-theft devices for bikes that combine an alarm with GPS tracking. Its waterproof and lightweight, aerodynamic design, ease of use and long battery life make it a standout amongst its competitors.
Designed primarily for road bikes, the AfterLock works equally well on an ebike, attaching easily to any of the bottle cage bosses. Setup with the app is relatively straightforward via Bluetooth, and once this is done locking it via your phone is a cinch. The device uses a vibration detection algorithm with multiple sensitivity settings which sounds an alarm and sends notification to your phone via the app. An on-board alarm will also sound if the bike is moved.
If stolen, AfterLock tracks your bike on-the-minute to determine its location via GPS, or WiFi if GPS is unavailable. For shorter-range distances, it switches between Bluetooth and SigiFox connectivity.
Unlike some GPS trackers it won’t continuously display your bike’s location, opting instead to focus on saving battery consumption to aid long-term tracking. Charging is done via a USB-2 port, with battery life reckoned to be around 1.5-2 months depending on use.
AfterLock retails at £114.99 and the app requires an additional monthly fee of £3.49 (or 34.99 per year), which seems like a price well worth paying for peace of mind over your precious set of wheels.

functions. The alarm is loud enough for someone putting back your bike when they want to steal it.
Tristan –
My experience is based on the fact that I am a full time bikepacker. I almost never leave my bike unattended for long; generally it’s just short stops at groceries stores to resupply. I spend most of my time in fairly remote areas, and generally avoid cities. Weight is a big consideration for me, as I spend a lot of time in the mountains, so I don’t want to carry a big U-lock or something similar. At the same time, I’m all to aware of how easy it is to cut a lightweight cable lock, and so I’m always a bit nervous when leaving my bike out of sight, even if it’s only for a few minutes.
The AlterLock is a good solution for this, as it gives me extra peace of mind knowing that if someones does move my bike, my phone will notify me immediately, and with a bit of luck any thief might panic when the alarm starts, giving me enough time to run out and give chase. The alarm is small and very lightweight, and easy to set up. I have it installed under my bolt-in frame bag, which has the advantage of also making it harder for any potential thief to quickly remove (they would have to unscrew it from inside the frame bag, which is quite tricky). I’ve tested the lock out and it works well, my phone buzzes immediately to notify me of movement, and the alarm is sufficiently loud to cause a racket. I didn’t find it to be particularly sensitive to movement, even when on the highest sensitivity setting, which I suppose does reduce the risk of it sounding by mistake, although I do think it could potentially be a little more sensitive.
Overall the lock performs well and fulfils a valuable function. Especially when travelling with all of your gear attached, bike theft is the nightmare scenario, so anything that can help reduce the likelihood is worth having, especially at such a low weight. Peace of mind is key.
Karl –
I would definitely recommend it’s easy to install and works brilliantly on the GPS for tracking my bike.
R. Havinga –
If the person is not an iPhone or any other Apple device owner, this would be a useful product for him/her. Only the Apple Airtags is a cheaper and better option in my opinion. Bike alarm is a good function but modern bike computers have this function build in.
Alex S –
I’d recommend AlterLock to any road cyclist. Having a cup of coffee while your expensive bike is parked outside is always quite a stress. Having a heavy lock is not an option. A lightweight lock is easy to crack. AlterLock add another layer of protection, in addition to my road bike lightweight lock. I feel more confident.
Also, having alarm on your daily bike while doing shopping or visiting gym gives a peace of mind.
Michael N –
It was easy to fit and arming/disarming was faultless, the tracker facility is the main feature and being discreet under the bottle holder is a nice stealth touch.
Dirk –
The installation of the app under Android from the app store was done quickly, and with a normal mount for the bottle cage, the installation under the bottle cage would also have been done quickly and easily.
For my special bottle cage mount, the included M5x16mm screws were a little too short.
About setting up the lock in the app:
Since the app unfortunately does not allow pre-taken pictures of the bike, and also the setup can only be completed with a picture, it is best to do the initial setup during the day and near the bike.
The recommended firmware update didn’t work for me, but the lock still works perfectly.
The battery life is certainly not too short, in the course of the test of 2 weeks the battery level in the app dropped by one of three bars.
I can’t judge whether or not the lock will send a thief running when the alarm is triggered, and how long it will take for the thief to remove the Alterlock. But for parking at the bakery or on a bike marathon it is a good investment in any case, light and inconspicuous, and sensational when the alarm goes off.
Swaye C –
Depending on their location and bike usage, I live near the outskirts of London. It suits my needs quite well. The tracking only updates when the bike has stopped, so I would not recommend the product for areas like the city of London or some high-crime surrounding regions. If the thieves in your area are not as bold or cunning, this is a great product. My advice for the city of London riders would be to get a rented bike rather than using your own; if a thief wants your bike, they will take it, and most are wise to trackers on the market anyway. I once had a motorbike stolen with a minimoto tracker under the seat; the thief took it round the corner, removed the bike seat, and discarded the tracker. But london is a hard area to keep anything safe, if you live in an area like horsham, this tracker should be perfect for you.

Bluetooth connection sometimes takes a long time. I think the connection request interval is longer to save battery, but it would be good if it could send out a connection request when the button is pressed.
ss –
Sometimes it doesn’t connect no matter how many times I try.
KATSUNORI MIZUNO –
The Type-C connector for charging comes with a cover, but it is independent of the main unit and is a very small part, so the risk of losing it is high. I want it to be able to be fixed to the main unit.

I feel safer since I found this.
健太郎 広瀬 –
When I was using my mountain bike for city riding, I was afraid of theft and didn’t enjoy going out because I was worried about it, but after this was attached to the bottle gauge, I felt much more secure. I get notifications even when I’m away from the bike, and even if the guy on the bike park touches it without my permission, it will sound the alarm. If I had to make one order, I would like the alarm sound to be a little louder, and I can’t hear the sound on my phone when it’s a mobile alarm, so that needs to be improved. (The latter may be a problem with the settings, though…)
高津登行 –
Thank you for all your help, I have been interested in A lterLock for about a year now, but it was difficult to get one, then I got a line from the shop that it was in stock and I was able to purchase it. I’m glad I was able to buy it, because I’ve been using wire locks for a long time and no matter what I use, I can’t prevent tampering or theft. The response is good and the sound is loud enough to make me feel safe away from my bike. I look forward to working with you in the future.
肇 加藤 –
I am generally satisfied with the basic functions. I have reduced one star because sometimes the bluetooth connection is not working properly and I have to reset it.
博 鈴木 –
I use it on my motorcycle. Once malfunctioned? The alarm went off, but I was able to get there quickly. I can park safely at night. However, I’m still not sure if the GPS information will work correctly in the event of a real theft, as the location information is still not yet acquired. I am satisfied with the monthly price and battery life.
kuro354 –
The loud alarm makes me feel safe when I leave my bike in shops, etc.
小泉 隆 –
It is very reassuring to be notified on my phone if something happens to my car. I’m so glad I bought it!
章 高野 –
I park my bicycle a lot in my food delivery business and I am very happy with the sound it makes when I lock it, which has a threatening effect. The alarm can be triggered by vibrations from wind, etc., or if the tyres are placed on the rails of the type of bicycle parking lot that allows you to park your bike next to it, the alarm can go off.
S. Tao –
I have been using it since the end of last year. I have never had it stolen, but many times I have forgotten to unlock it and the alarm went off on the spot when I moved the bike lol. I am sure it will protect you in an emergency. The battery is also very long lasting and charging it once a month is enough. The app notifies you when the battery is running low, which is handy.
道弘 猪股 –
I actually felt more secure with AlterLock when I stopped at a convenience store. It also gives me more time for shopping. However, it must be used in conjunction with a normal lock.
hiro –
I was worried about theft as it is an expensive bike, but AlterLock gives me peace of mind.
mkm –
Used on iphone13pro. I don’t use it every day, sometimes I use AlterLock when I stop in shops etc., but in many cases the Bluetooth is not connected at the crucial moment and I have to reset it. I feel stressed because it takes me a long time every time I want to quickly lock the device and go shopping. Also, there are a lot of false positives and the alarm goes off as soon as you lock the device. Basically, the sensitivity is set to Mid. As the concept of this product, I think that many of the above glitches are problematic. I have high hopes for the future, but at the moment I feel that it is not a safe product to use.
深澤富長 –
I was worried about stopping my bike out of sight when eating, but if I turn on the regular transmission mode, I can eat while making sure I haven’t moved.
あさひ 川上 –
I am very happy with the product and I am very happy with the way it works, but I am not sure how many times I can set the Bluetooth connection to be smooth, even though it is charged.
侑樹 松尾 –
The performance itself is very good, but the price is high and there is a high monthly fee. I have the impression that there are now products that include a bike alarm in the cyclocomputer, so there is less and less need to go out of your way to pay a lot of money for a cyclocomputer.
芳樹 露木 –
I have been able to shop and eat with peace of mind since I put them on.
まろたけ –
When I was looking for a way to reduce the risk of theft, I found out about AlterLock and immediately bought one. I asked for a special installation at an installation shop, as it would be useless if it was removed and taken away. I use it for my daily commute to work and so far I have not encountered any major problems, except for the occasional alarm notification for movement detection. In a bicycle parking lot in the city, because it is easy for the alarm to sound in relation to hitting other bicycles by all means, the sensitivity is set to the lowest, but even so I feel that there is no problem. Because the notification goes out before the battery runs out, there is also no trouble when the battery runs out. I use a commercially available mobile battery to charge the battery when I am not riding. The battery lasts for a relatively long time, so I have never felt that charging is a hassle.
joseph –
I use it on my motorbike, and I have heard that no matter how thick the chain is, if professional thieves get serious they will cut it off, so I introduced it in the hope that I can track it after it’s been stolen. I set the detection sensitivity to high, so it only reacts when the vehicle is raised and a loud alarm sounds, so I am hoping that this will have some deterrent effect on pranks.
浩二 馬淵 –
Used in conjunction with a chain lock for security on large motorbikes. Rather than being deterred by the alarm, I feel safer knowing that I can locate the bike in the event of theft. It also eliminates the need to carry heavy disc locks and chain locks when I am out and about. It is easier to use than expensive factory alarms and is the most cost-effective.
章 竹澤 –
I think it is the best anti-theft system on the market today. The only thing I would like to see improved is the time lag between detection and tracking.
knuckle –
This gives me peace of mind!
かみちゃん –
Thanks to you, I have not been active yet, but I like it very much and have given it to a friend. We tried it ourselves with the security on, and although we live in a rural area, we were very surprised at the pinpoint accuracy of the map display. The battery life is really good for a month and a half! It really is the strongest security you can get!
モンモン –
It is best not to leave the bike, but there are times when you have to leave the bike, such as to go to the toilet or for a quick refuel. I am always worried about using just the key, but by using this product in combination with the lock, I can take a break without worry. The battery lasts a long time and it can be attached together with the bottle gauge so it doesn’t get in the way. So far I haven’t had to turn it on except when I forgot to deactivate it and moved it myself, but I do recommend it! (It’s better if you don’t have to go out).
Takeshi SHOJI –
There is no such thing as perfect theft protection, but it provides a very high level of security. For the price for this peace of mind, I am satisfied. I look forward to further compact product development.
t –
The annual fee is 3,960 yen for three bikes, so I bought three bikes. I have two bikes and the extra in my car. I put it under the seat of the bike so that I can supply USB power with ACC on. For motorbikes, the detection sensitivity seems to be High. I have not tried it on Low because I would forget about it and just ride away. The GPS also provides location information under the seat without any problems. The car is unlocked and loaded near the rear fuse box. The GPS sensitivity is also good here. I usually set the position information every three hours and the battery lasts for two to three weeks with plenty of time to spare. The only thing that has gone wrong is that the GPS reception has stopped once and the Bluetooth connection when locking and unlocking has stopped once, but both have been fixed by rebooting the car. If you can get peace of mind for 3,960 per year, it’s a good buy.
N.Smii –
The battery capacity is small, but I’m not happy with it.
阿部 和彦 –
When eating at a cafe with cycle racks during a ride, I set it to LOW, but the slightest vibration when someone else parked it on the rack caused it to beep, so I thought it could be a little less responsive on LOW. But I suppose it’s better than no buzzer at all!
k28s –
As expected, GPS location information could not be obtained in the underground bicycle parking area. Also, outside, even in roofed areas, sometimes it is possible to acquire the information, and sometimes not. The location is in the 23rd district. I wish it had the accuracy and sensitivity of a mobile phone’s GPS.
Makoto –
Since I bought and started using the Alterlock, I can park my bicycle with peace of mind. As for theft, I can’t say that it is 100% theft-proof, but it seems to be an effective preventive measure.
正則 松本 –
I would give it five stars if the monthly cost was cheaper. Together with the chain key, it gives me double the peace of mind.
一樹 平野 –
Even if the shop is busy, no worries!
Kimiy –
Very reassuring. The set sounds can also be intimidating, so even if you are away from them, they won’t touch you, first of all, if they are nearby. Is the GPS a little less sensitive? If I put it near a window, it doesn’t pick up the GPS, so when it’s actually stolen, will it be safe? But I think it is unlikely to be stolen because of the intimidation effect of the security’s reactive sound. Also, as YouTubers have said, it would be great if the GPS could also have real-time selection when stolen.
o –
It’s easy to set up, easy to use and cosy to use as a security measure.
shunmatsuura –
Even if I move it a bit, the alarm goes off and I get a notification, so I know where I am and I have peace of mind!
tkhrm –
After all, just having it on gives me peace of mind, and then it’s also a deterrent. It’s a threat that something like that is attached to you. The UI is easy to understand and I see no problems at all.
充 小野寺 –
Fortunately, I haven’t had the benefit of Alterlock yet, but it makes a difference to my peace of mind when I’m riding solo and need to leave the bike for a while, for example to go to a convenience store or the toilet. It is also good to be able to choose the sensitivity according to the situation.
蔵光慎弥 –
I have installed it on my new FATBOY. I have the earth lock and rear wheel lock fitted, but I was worried because no one is home during the day. However, after installing AlterLock, it regularly tells me where it is, which gives me a great sense of security. I feel a great sense of security, especially when I am away from home for a few days on business trips. It also informs me of the battery status, so I try to charge it as soon as possible. Physical locks are a hassle when I’m away for a short time, such as when touring, so I only use the handlebar lock and AlterLock. It is convenient to switch the lock state on and off at the push of a button. If there is a drawback, it would be the shape. The shape is designed to be attached to a bicycle bottle holder, so I wondered where I would attach it to my bike. In the end, I attached the bottle holder and mounted it so that I could pinch it in.
シロ –
It is very convenient and allows me to cycle with peace of mind. I often ride alone, so until now I had to hold the heavy key and lock the bike with a stiff lock, but now it’s a breeze. I’m glad I waited to buy it.
タカ –
I no longer have to worry about theft while shopping at convenience stores. It has helped me a lot.
一夜漬け –
When I purchased my e-bike, I decided that a wire lock alone was not enough to keep me safe, so I installed AlterLock, and the fact that it alerts me when it detects something wrong with the bike gives me tremendous peace of mind. Fortunately, I have never been alerted to anything wrong with the vehicle except in tests, but I think this peace of mind that I am protected is fantastic.
GO –
The connection is smooth, the choice of alert levels is very good and I feel safe using it.
きち –
I used to ride alone a lot, and I used to be in a hurry to get back to my bike because I didn’t even mind going to the toilet at the convenience store, but after installing the Alter-Lock, I feel much safer. The basic anti-theft measures plus alpha have given me more room to breathe and I enjoy the side trips on my rides more than ever before.
Paul F –
The loud alarm alerts me when I take my eyes off the road, such as when I’m in a restaurant, which gives me a sense of security.
However, if I’m in a restaurant where I can’t hear the alarm, I rely on notifications on my phone, but the vibration on my phone is weak and I don’t always notice it if I have it in my back pocket, so I think improvements in that area would make me feel even more secure.
大貴 水田 –
I hide it under the cowl, but the positioning is accurate, and I charge it with the USB charger in the car for occasional touring, but I’m happy with the battery life so far.
I have no complaints about the iPhone app either.
However, I often forget to turn it on or off and get panicky.
Minobu Arai –
I feel safe and secure at convenience stores on solo rides, and at lunch on group rides, I can connect my friends’ bikes with a regular key and everyone’s bikes are safe and everyone is very happy.
I’m so glad I bought it!
T.K –
The shortest I can set up location notifications at 30 minute intervals for peace of mind.
It makes a difference to my peace of mind, especially if I am away from my bike for long periods of time.

I ride an old bike and bought the Alterlock just in case. To date, fortunately nothing has happened to set off the alarm. It is a small expense, but I will continue to use it as it makes a difference to my peace of mind.

It’s easy to use and locks at the touch of a button!
It’s loud and secure!
I would recommend it because it’s small in size and it doesn’t affect my driving!
All five members around me use it!
たかし –
I can use it for a quick trip to the toilet, or to the convenience store on a group ride. It’s a sense of security.
The battery life is very low, depending on the settings, but not during the ride. It is also a hassle to remove the battery, so a mobile battery is necessary. Charging with a mobile battery.
sora –
The GPS tracking is not so easy to use, as I have not yet encountered a situation where I need it (I hope that such a situation will never come…).
よすふく –
It makes me feel much more secure when I’m parked on the bike.
DSTs –
I set it up by following the set-up instructions on the web and the FAQs, but there was no stress.
I would like a more detailed explanation of the subsequent procedure when it is detected (spread on social networking sites?). should be explained in more detail.
Effective way to collect bicycles, etc.
将基 下村 –
I think this is a very good concept product. It is also good that the product has been improved to make it smaller and less conspicuous. The following three points could be further improved.
(1) Because the installation position is under the bottle cage, there is a high risk of water and sweat from the bottle getting into the USB terminal for power supply (I feel that the reliability is low with the resin connector cover and that water can easily get into the hole for the buzzer in the same way).
(2) When installing, there are points that come into contact with the frame (when riding, there is a tendency for abrasions to increase due to flexing of the frame, etc.).
(3) Stability and improvement of BT communication connection (I am currently using it for two cars, but one of them often fails to connect with the iPhone’s dedicated application even when it is charged: the firmware is already up-to-date).
Although I have requested the above three improvements, I still think it is a good product to have on my bicycle during long rides. I think the knowledge of the thief is continuously improving, so I expect continuous product development in the future. (It is all the thieves who are at fault, and I hope for the day when such people are exterminated.)

The alarm goes off when I try to move my bike, so I can park it with peace of mind. Several times I have moved my bike, forgetting that it is locked, but the alarm sounded firmly.
Also, it’s been about a month since I bought it and I’ve only had one false alarm right after locking, but it was only a warning sound, so it wasn’t that noticeable.
Yamashita Mayumi –
Before I installed the Alterlock, I only used wire locks, but I like to visit bakeries and when I enter a shop, I feel so much more secure than with wire locks alone and I don’t have to rush to buy anything.
The other day I accidentally forgot to unlock it and moved my bike, which set off the alarm, but it was easy to unlock and I was able to release it calmly.
When the alarm goes off, I get a guide to report it, which I thought was well done.
亜希子 浅見 –
I often ride alone, so I was anxious during the cafes I stopped at and during lunch, even though I had locked the door. I was worried all the time, even when I was having dinner, but now I can enjoy the ride with a bit of peace of mind.
JUN ONOUE –
It is easy to switch on and off, lasts a month on a charge and the warning sound is loud and effective. The price is cheap and it is the most cost effective. It takes time to get it.
kenoka –
I installed it right after I bought my road bike. I use it very conveniently, for example when I have to stop at a convenience store for a while. The sensor is so good that sometimes it reacts even if it’s just blowing in the wind on the bike rack. The USB port lid is inconvenient and I had to replace it.
In any case, I think it’s a very satisfying product to install.
topeka cyclist –
Often I leave the bike while locking and when I return, the phone screen has reverted to the default settings (the registered vehicle data is lost). Restarting the phone restores it to normal.
Also, the battery life could be better. If only it could be better, it would be a perfect score.
daemon-t –
I use it in conjunction with a light dial lock as I have more solo rides due to the Corona disaster.
If I am near a window during a bocce meal, I feel safe even if I can’t see it.
Also, the electronic sound when locking/unlocking is a good reminder of your surroundings.
It’s also very effective against the occasional talkative old man who tries to step over it without permission.
ysmiya –
When I make a short stop at a convenience store, a push of a button makes a difference to my sense of security.
You have to get used to moving it yourself as it is and sounding the alarm ^^^;
M S –
Other than the above, it is generally good.
The remaining battery warning and the change to type C are also highly appreciated!
TM –
I use it with my keys when I stop at convenience stores and restaurants during rides. I feel very safe as I get notified immediately if anything goes wrong. As you can imagine, I’m worried about being far away from my bike, but I hope it is a small deterrent.
はー太郎 –
It makes a difference to my peace of mind when entering a convenience store or a restaurant for a meal. The only thing I would like to see improved is to make it compatible with the Apple watch, as I put my mobile phone in my backpack and it is a hassle to take it out and lock it.
Bee –
The warning sound is louder than the earlier model, which makes me feel more secure. I am currently using two of the newer models and the connection with my phone is stable in this environment. However, when the old and new models were mixed, only the new model could not be connected unless the unit was reset.
d.w.kubiwanoou –
I think the performance is perfect.
I think the cost setting is also doing a good job.
If you use the product, you can feel that the producer and seller’s desire for bicycle security is from the customer’s point of view.
大河内 純 –
The Gen2 is slimmer and less prone to cracking. The original warning alarm and tracking capabilities are still the same, making it a reliable partner.
If possible, I would like to have the ability to lock the Gen1 just by leaving it. It would be nice to be able to select the function.
One complaint is that the charging terminal is a bit shallow and easy to remove. I’m getting used to it though.

If I forget to unlock it and move it, a warning sound will sound and I feel secure that, ah, I am protected. It is also nice that the sound can be stopped immediately as a detection error. One hassle is the charging; the battery warning comes on after about two months, but it’s hard to remove the lock from the bike, so you have to pull an extension cord to the bike, and that cord gets in the way a bit while it’s charging. But that’s about the only complaint I have.

I don’t get notifications, even though I’m in an urban area and under the roof of my garage; I’m in a place where Wi-Fi is connected, but I don’t get location information. I thought it was broken, but outdoors it sends me a fairly accurate location. Overall, I am very satisfied with the peace of mind I get a text message as soon as there is an earthquake.
I would like to know if it is OK to install the charging port facing downwards as a waterproof measure.
I sent an email with a question before, but received no reply at all. I am concerned about future correspondence.

This is a review of the results of about three months of use. Regular notifications are off and the system is operating in sensitivity. I use it because I have a road bike in an out-of-the-way apartment building and I park it on the top tier of a two-tier bike park, and it alerts me when I intentionally jolt it. However, the signal seems to be poor and sometimes notifications are sent at different times. If you understand this characteristic, there are no complaints. The screws included are torx. For security purposes, a more special screw is better. I have changed to special diaper-shaped screws. For this reason I have given it four stars. In fact, I don’t think there is much of a problem in fact, as it warns you if you try to remove the screws, whether hexagonal or torx. Just one more thing, the rubber cap for the USB-C is so small I’m afraid I’m going to lose it! It is covered with black aluminium tape. I would like to have a type that does not separate from the unit.
Satoshi asano –
Great features. The updates are quick and I use it every day with no worries!
KW –
The inconspicuous shape gives me peace of mind in case of an emergency. I am concerned about the running costs, but if it costs less than 400 yen per month and reduces the sense of security from theft, I am totally OK with it.

Although it is designed for bicycles, it functioned correctly when installed on a motorcycle, and the tilt sensor and other sensors seemed to work fine.
It is installed in the storage area under the seat and the volume is loud enough to be heard outside.
The only complaint I have is the battery life.
I have installed a USB rechargeable battery on the bike so that I can charge it.
I think they need to be made smaller as they are for bicycles, but I thought it would be even better if there was a high capacity battery model available.
tcr –
Moderately good. I feel more comfortable resting on it than before.
平嶋泰之 –
I haven’t actually detected any thefts yet, but I feel more secure in parking my bike.
R.H. –
I feel more secure when I go to a convenience store for a few minutes, or when I stop at the toilet.
It was also easy to set up.
Yama-D –
It’s important to prevent theft of the bike, but I appreciate the GPS functionality to be able to track it in the worst case scenario.
I now feel safer away from my bike.
フミ –
I am a very anxious person, so I used to feel uneasy when I had to stop my car for a quick toilet or convenience store break. I think it’s a great product.
Metsugi Kosei –
When I have to take a short break at a convenience store, toilet or cafe stop, I used to take the wire lock out of the tool case and wrap it round.
The Alterlock simplifies these tasks.
石垣晴規 –
Unsurpassed peace of mind
YOKO MATSUOKA –
Now you can park your bike with peace of mind!
八木比呂志 –
Not only does it prevent theft, but it is also very effective in preventing tampering and making people hesitant to touch it.
橋爪 敬之 –
This is a very good product as it improves my worries about theft a lot.
However, I over-torqued the screws and they cracked through the screw holes… out of three. All of them did so.
I thought the torque strength was too sensitive for me.
貴宏 清水 –
I ride solo a lot and was really worried about convenience stores and during meals, but this product has allowed me to enjoy my rides with peace of mind.
武藤 –
I have been using it for six months.
I am approximately satisfied with the frequency of charging and the accuracy of the locations it displays. I am not sure if it will really help me if I have a problem, as it does not show the location in real time. Also, the location information is sometimes interrupted when you move outside of your home. There is room for improvement in this area, so 3 stars.

Operating the app when locking and unlocking the door is a hassle.
There is a lag between launching the app and the Bluetooth connection, which was not as smooth as I had imagined.
The physical buttons also react differently, sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t.
The service itself is very good, so it would be nice to be able to lock and unlock more easily.
安部 孝史 –
I’ve never had it work when I’m parked on my bike yet, so sometimes I wonder if it’s safe, but I can think it’s safer than not doing anything at all.
In that respect, I’m glad I have it on.
誠司 関 –
Sometimes the notifications don’t arrive as often as they are supposed to, but I’m generally satisfied.
I think it’s a very good prevention against theft.
K –
I use it inside my house and in a covered bicycle parking area in front of the station, and the GPS works inside my house, but it doesn’t pick up the GPS at all in the covered bicycle parking area. I am worried if it really works when stolen.
Kat13 –
I had it fitted at a bicycle shop. It does not spoil the aesthetics of the bike under the bottle gauge. When I park my bike out of sight, I use a chain lock and here. I think it is a necessity for a good bicycle rider. However, the batteries need to be recharged every time you ride.
YT –
It makes me feel very safe and secure away from my bike.
motomoto302 –
I often ride my road bike alone and my breaks are almost always at convenience stores, so I can now go to the toilet without worry that I will be out of sight.
I also feel safe in the fact that it is a deterrent, as habitual thieves will be aware of the famous Alterlock.
The operating sound when locking and unlocking also appeals to those around you.
ヒロシ –
We also use wire locks, but they are not as secure. Road bikes are not cheap, so I can rely on the Alterlock to be as effective as a car security alarm. The only thing I would like to see improved is better battery life. Also, it would be helpful if you could notify me via a notification on my phone when the battery is about to run out.
宮崎伸夫 –
I use it together with the Abs Blade Lock.
I haven’t yet had a situation where the alarm sounds, but it gives me peace of mind when I’m away from my road bike, for example for lunch.
T.YAMAGUCHI –
With the wire lock alone, it was unnerving just to be away for a short while, but it gives me peace of mind and allows me to take a break. In case the alarm goes off, I use a smartwatch, which is very convenient for me because I can notice the notification more easily than with my phone.
JTO –
It’s a lot more stable, but sometimes I get a bad connection. It can be fixed by restarting the device, so it’s okay.
ケン –
I’m generally happy with it, but overall I feel like it could still be improved.
I’m hoping for more features and specs in updates and gen3.
Real-time tracking with updates every second or so.
Battery life more than doubled.
Stable Bluetooth connection range.
Connecting, unlocking and locking with Apple Watch.
Vibration + alarm function at 5m of positional movement.
Other functional improvements are expected.
The last major system of vibration detection has a lot of false positives, and I feel it would be easier to use if a system that recognises by GPS position movement could also be added as a mode.
浩至 内海 –
It would let me know if there is something unusual even if I am out of sight… I think this alone is worth installing. I have installed it in both of the cars I own.
But don’t be overconfident, do daily test runs, etc. to check whether the alarm goes off normally? Do you receive notifications on your phone? If the system does not notify you of an abnormality, you should check the status of the system.
I had a problem before where no notifications were sent out, and when I contacted support, they kindly told me how to deal with the problem, which was a relief, but I feel that checks should be carried out to avoid missing something that is not working…
まーちん –
Setup was easy.
The use of AlterLock in addition to the keylock gives me peace of mind.
The volume could be louder.
Customer –
Had my LaPierre bike stolen after thieves used a grinder to cut the security. But by coordinating with the local police using the Alterlock positioning the bike was sucessfully recovered. Would highly recommend.
